![]() Besides, scholarships and midterms will keep you busy so you’re not constantly stressing about your transfer application. I’m pretty sure the saying “more money, more problems” doesn’t apply to the college student demographic. This should happen regardless, but it certainly won’t hurt you when you have to send in your final transcript and are possibly strapped for cash. Maintain your grades and apply for scholarships Once you apply, it is one thing to stay on top of your application, but it’s another to check said application every few hours-as I may or may not have done. I stress a lot over little things, and in the four months it took me to hear back from the college I applied to, all I did was stress. Oh, how I wish more of my friends would have reminded me of this. Get everything ready for your application at a steady pace so that you’re not scrambling at the last minute or stressing yourself out. Procrastination is your frenemy, especially during the semester when you have an essay, a few readings, and a phone call home due soon, so don’t listen to anything she says. You may be looking at this step and thinking, “Well, duh!” What I really mean is: do not procrastinate. Get everything ready for your application(s) Making a back-up plan doesn’t hurt much, either. Look at the big picture of your transfer, sketch in the major details, and start to fine-tune those minor ones. ![]() This first step determines exactly how you want things to be. In addition to that, a plan is necessary. Why do you want to transfer? Ask yourself that question and make sure you have a really good answer. Make sure this is really what you want to do, and create a plan I realized there is significantly less buzz about transfer students as there is for incoming freshmen and that I needed my own checklist to keep me on track. ![]() As I prepared to take my own steps from community college to a four-year university, I did some reflection. Transferring colleges can be as exciting-or overwhelming-as leaving high school for college. ![]()

Cervical RA involvement is a progressive, serious condition with reduced lifetime expectancy, and its diagnosis is therefore important. Laxity or rupture of the transverse ligament causes instability with a potential risk of spinal cord injury. Inflamed and thickened synovium (pannus) can occur around the odontoid process (dens) and cause bone erosion and destruction of surrounding ligaments, most seriously if the posterior transverse ligament is involved. Involvement in RA is usually located in the cervical spine where erosive changes are predominantly seen in the atlanto-axial region. These two entities display somewhat different imaging features, which are important to recognise. This review will focus on the different imaging features and be concentrated on the most frequent inflammatory spinal changes seen in RA and SpA, respectively. It is therefore important to know the characteristic radiographic findings in arthritides in addition to the advantages of supplementary MRI and CT. The spine can be involved in most inflammatory disorders encompassing rheumatoid arthritis (RA), seronegative spondyloarthritides (SpA), juvenile arthritides and less frequent disorders such as pustulotic arthro-osteitis and SAPHO (synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis, osteitis) syndrome.ĭuring the last decade the diagnostic use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) has increased considerably, although radiography is still the recommended initial examination. ![]() MRI can detect signs of active inflammation as well as chronic structural changes CT is valuable for detecting fracture. The imaging features of the other forms of SpA can vary, but voluminous paravertebral ossifications often occur in psoriatic SpA. In early stages it is characterised by vertebral squaring and condensation of vertebral corners, in later stages by slim ossifications between vertebral bodies, vertebral fusion, arthritis/ankylosis of apophyseal joints and ligamentous ossification causing spinal stiffness. ![]() Ankylosing spondylitis is the most frequent form of SpA and has rather characteristic radiographic features. Subluxation is diagnosed by radiography, but supplementary MRI and/or CT is always indicated to visualise the spinal cord and canal in patients with vertical subluxation, neck pain and/or neurological symptoms. RA changes are usually located in the cervical spine and can result in serious joint instability. The purpose of this review is to present the typical radiographic features of spinal changes in RA and SpA in addition to the advantages of MRI and CT, respectively. Thus, MRI and CT are increasingly used, although radiography is the recommended initial examination. ![]() ![]() Spinal involvement is frequent in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and seronegative spondyloarthritides (SpA), and its diagnosis is important. ![]() ![]() ![]() Take into consideration the space you have selected to throw your puppy party in. Think about the dogs (and owners) that are invited. Keep this in mind when you are refining your guest list, creating the party rules, and planning the party activities. Doing introductions beforehand will also help clue you into which dogs may not get along. It is much less stressful for dogs to meet each other one on one versus a new dog coming into a pack of strangers. This way the meetings can go as slow as the dogs are comfortable with. Try to make sure as many dogs as possible have met each other before the party. It just means that you may have to change your party plans by not having toys or bones out and that you will need to have guidelines concerning treats and food for your guests to avoid issues. This does not mean that they should not be allowed to come. When gathering information about your canine guests, be sure to clarify if there are any behavioral concerns that you need to be aware of like leash, food, or toy aggression. Remember to clearly label what each container of snacks is (some dog treats look like human treats so this will help to avoid most mix-ups). Be aware of any special needs your guests may have. Is it big enough for the number of guests you would like to invite? Is there anything that a dog can get hurt or stuck on? Before your guests arrive, make sure to walk through the area to check to make sure all fences and gates are secure, and that any trash is removed. Will it be in a park, your home, or a local business? When picking a place, think about the weather and general safety. Turns out my daughter is really good at barking with emotion.Decide where you will throw the dog party. The kids chose a piece of paper and had to bark like the emotion while we all tried to guess what emotion they were barking. I wrote different emotions on pieces of paper (like Happy, Sad, Excited, etc.) This is about as simple as it gets – draw a picture of your dog! If the bone falls off the spoon, you have to start all over again. Then they had to crawl like a dog and drop the bone in the dog dish. The kids thought this game was SO fun! They each held a spoon in their mouths and balanced a bone on the spoon. Keep the balloon in the air – but you can only use your NOSE – no hands! It’s quite a bit more challenging than you’d think. Hide a stuffed cat and have your party guests search for it. The games were by far everyone’s favorite part of the party! He chomped them down while everyone sang Happy Birthday. The kids thought it was hilarious to dig in without hands.Īnd don’t even get me started on how much they giggled while drinking from their “dog bowls.”īig Hairy Dog got a few dog bones on his senior dog food. No matter what you serve, there’s one very important rule that must be followed during a dog party meal: NO HANDS! If you host your party during a mealtime, I highly recommend hot dogs. If you’re going the snack route, pretzels and dog bones are always a good choice. We opted to host the party at 2pm so we wouldn’t have to feed anyone a full meal, but you can decide what to feed your guests. They would bark at each other during walks and occasionally have playdates at the park. In his younger days, Big Hairy Dog had lots of friends in the neighborhood. Guests for a dog party are pretty simple. In honor of his 13th birthday, the kids and I decided to throw a very special dog birthday party for Big Hairy Dog – complete with food, guests and games! Now he enjoys long naps on the carpet and eating food that’s been dropped on the floor. He used to love long runs and at least four walks a day. Before we had our three kids, our very first child was Big Hairy Dog. ![]() ![]() ![]() Although this website is set up to be as helpful to students as possible, teachers and parents may find it especially so. If you would like to order caterpillars for your classroom and observe them changing into butterflies, Insect Lore has a number of options as well as accessories. Luckily there are plenty of videos available that show real-life examples of the life cycles that students can watch and observe when the real thing is not possible. When teaching the life cycles, I have only been able to do real-life examples of the butterfly and plant life cycles with students but there are places where you can get frog eggs and chicken eggs for students to observe (listed below). To me, there is no better way for children to learn than to actually observe and interact with what they are learning about. Whenever possible, I love being able to allow children to make real-life observations. It’s catchy, fun, and gets students excited about what is to come. Note that our atlas selection is rather scarce as we are currently working on this arduous task. This is also where you can select the map layer if you so desire. We have geo-referenced digitized versions of historic maps and property boundary documents. Like the aerials and topos selectors, the atlases will let you view additional historical representations of the viewing area. Just click on the topos button and select the year you wish to view. That's right, it works just like the aerial selection. Ready for this? You already know how to view topographic maps. Note that you can pan around, or zoom like we did with the map. To select another year, click on the aerials button again and select a different year. The current year will now display under the aerials button and within a couple seconds, the imagery for that year will replace the map. To select a year, just click on the year you want to see. These are the years of aerial coverage that we currently have for the area indicated by center point of the map. You should see a list of years pop out to the right. Click on the aerials button in the top left of the viewer. To view the aerial view of the current map location, you need to select an aerial year to display. However, you likely came here to view some historic aerial imagery, not to view maps, right? Maps are used for orientation, and we don't deviate from their utility. To zoom in, click on the plus, to zoom out, click on the minus. On the upper left side of the viewer content area are the zoom controls, indicated by the plus ( +) and minus ( -) sign.
